Competition Rules

  1. The submitted work and has not been copied, duplicated, written or stolen from another person other than the contestant.
  2. Contestants may submit 2 pieces of writing.
  3. There are 4 prizes. First place is $500 CAD, second place is $300, third and fourth place are $100.
  4. All the winners’ work will be published within a short story compilation at the time the publisher chooses. Credit will be given to all authors, and a short bio will accompany each piece.
  5. Entries are accepted worldwide.
  6. The contest winners are chosen based on the amount of votes and maximum rating given. After the voting the top 4 stories will be judged by our head editor, Melissa Duclos-Yourdon. Judging will take 1 – 3 weeks.
  7. Bookkus Publishing owns first publication rights for all winning stories. In accordance with Canadian law, contestants must answer a basic skill-testing question upon winning.
  8. The contest accepts submissions up until November 31st. Voting is permitted until December 31st and begins on December 1st.
  9. There is an entry fee of $5.00 Canadian to enter the contest.
  10. Each reader is allowed to give each story 1 rating vote in the contest. The publisher will do everything in its power to ensure fair voting; contestants may be disqualified is manipulation of the voting process is suspected.
  11. Submitted stories must be a maximum word count of 20,000 words. and minimum of 10,000 words.
  12. All submissions must be in English.
